Lake Minneola H.S. received a grant from St.  John’s Water Management District to research water conservation.   Students read books to find ways to conserve water.  The class read Seedfolks by Newbery – winning author Paul Flerschman.  Flerschman uses 13 speakers to bring to life a community Garden’s founding and first year.   Students also referenced The Big Thirst by Charles Fishman .  In the book, Fishman discusses the secret life and turbulent future of water.

Students did projects on the Green Swamp, Groundwater, Florida’s Aquifer, and Reclaimed Water to prove  why it’s so important to conserve water.

As a follow up activity, the class created individual terrariums.
